The lessons
Age and level
Everyone is welcome: children from age 10 and adults up to 101. It doesn’t matter whether you have never played or have years of experience. We can also help you prepare for an audition at a conservatory or other professional music school.
What will you learn?
A personal approach comes first. Among other things we work on:
- Technique and posture: stick and foot technique, relaxation and breathing
- Grooves in pop, rock, jazz, blues, latin, hip hop, R&B, funk and soul
- Timing, groove, coordination and independence
- Sound, dynamics, creativity and musicality
- Fills, snare drum exercises and rudiments
- Reading drum notation
- Playing along with your favourite songs
- Knowledge about drumming, drummers and drums
- And of course your own questions and wishes
Weekly or every other week
Choose weekly lessons (38 per year) or lessons every other week (19 per year). We recommend weekly: the regular rhythm keeps you practising. If that doesn’t work for you, every other week is a fine alternative.
Lesson days and schedule
Lessons are available on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday. Everyone gets a fixed slot in the schedule, which we plan together. If another time suits you better later on, we’ll see what we can move.
What to bring
A pair of drumsticks and a folder for your exercises and notes. You don’t need your own sticks for the trial lesson.
Signing up and payment
Trial lesson
We offer a no obligation trial lesson, so you can find out whether drumming is for you and whether you click with the teacher. You receive an invoice for the trial lesson in advance. See the prices. Book your trial lesson.
Enrolment
After the trial lesson we send you a link to enrol. You can start at any time during the year. If you start halfway through a month, we settle the lessons of that month on your first invoice. Your enrolment continues until you cancel and does not stop automatically at the end of the school year.
Payment
Each month you receive an invoice by email for a fixed amount: the fee for the whole school year, spread over ten months. There is no invoice in July and August. Prefer quarterly, half yearly or yearly invoices? That is possible too. Because of holidays some months have more lessons than others; you pay for the membership, not per lesson. All amounts are listed on the prices page.
VAT
Students under 21 are exempt from VAT on music lessons. From age 21 VAT applies. All prices on the website include VAT.
Absence and holidays
Holidays
We follow the official secondary school holiday schedule for the Midden Nederland region. There are no lessons during school holidays. See the year schedule.
Missing a lesson or illness
If you can’t make a lesson, you are not entitled to a make up lesson or refund. If you let us know at least 24 hours in advance, we will do our best to reschedule, but this isn’t always possible. Missing more than three lessons in a row due to illness or family circumstances? Let us know and the fee can be refunded in consultation.
If your teacher is ill
If your teacher is unexpectedly ill or unavailable, we will in principle arrange a substitute. If that isn’t possible, the lesson is made up as soon as possible at a time we agree on together.
Stopping and location
Stopping lessons (cancellation)
You are never tied to a full year: the notice period is 1 calendar month. Send us an email to cancel. The cancellation takes effect from the month after the month in which you cancel, so besides the current month you have one more month of lessons, which is also charged. If you stop halfway through the year, the amount per lesson may turn out slightly higher or lower than for a full school year. This difference is not settled.
